As Brian Drummond was brought up as a budding French polisher in the piano trade, it’s no wonder that we have piano restoration down to a fine art here at Drummond Reid. With thousands of very satisfied customers over the years, we have the reputation of being the finest in the country. From as far away as London and Dublin, we have restored all types of grand and upright pianos for both the private and trade customers.

Nothing is overlooked when it comes to restoring. From complete action and stringing rebuilds to repairing and replacement of any missing parts or veneers. Our team of experts will always advise on the best thing for the instrument. Cleaning of all brassware, key covers, re-lining backing cloth, cleaning out key beds, replace all felt ware etc. is all standard practice.

Traditionally when the piano arrives at our work shops, we take all the parts out of the piano strip all timbers to the bare wood and complete repolish using age old hand French polishing techniques or modern day lacquers. This is a lengthy process and an upright normally takes around 2 weeks and a grand around 3-4 weeks. Complete restoration of one of the top names like Steinway, C. Bechstein, and Bluthner can also increase its value dramatically.

We have all the expertise and equipment to remove pianos to and from our workshops.
